Since 2008, REACH Therapy Center has been proud to sponsor a West University Little League team. The team is a part of The Challenger Division, which is a baseball program for boys and girls ages 5-18 with physical and mental challenges.
The Challenger Division provides children with various levels of ability and function to participate in the experience and fun of playing little league baseball. The program teams up student volunteers (grades 6th-12th) “Baseball Buddies,” with baseball players that need assistance with batting, throwing, making their way around the bases, and fielding. Both the players and the volunteers benefit from the experience.
If you have a child that would be interested in participating in this unique baseball league, as a player or a “Baseball Buddy,” please contact the West University Little League at www.westull.org. Registration for players is normally November-January.

On April 30, 2009, The Care Group hosted a Bike Day with Freedom Concepts Inc., a company dedicated to creating adaptive bicycles and mobility devices for children with special needs. There are many proven physical and mental benefits that bike riding offers, such as improving strength, mobility, balance, coordination, autonomy, and independence. We, as a pediatric clinic, realize the benefits that the bikes offer to our patients and welcomed the opportunity to host a Bike Day.
We had 12 kids sign up to attend. Out of those 12, so far, 2 of the kids have received bikes through charitable donation organizations. We are very excited to have been a part of helping our patients receive such a great gift! We look forward to hosting a bigger and better Bike Day next year. Our hope is to help more kids be able to enjoy the chance to ride a bike, maybe for the first time.
